RTC have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Hardware Design Engineer to join a leading Rail Consultancy.

The ideal candidate should have the following:

Key Duties:
Design of electronic hardware products, primarily safety-related digital and analogue hardware
life cycle responsibility of hardware designs from specification through to manufacturing support
Production of product documentation and manufacturing information
Implementation of verification and test programmes on hardware products

Essential Requirements:
Minimum first degree in electronics or equivalent
Minimum five years first-hand experience in electronic design
Experience in use of VHDL for programmable devices
Experience in Embedded Microprocessor design

Experience in high-speed serial communications
Experience in use of CAE capture and simulation tools for electronic design
Experience in working with PCB layout designers to achieve right-first-time designs
Experience in designing to meet EMC requirements
Good communication and literacy skills
Good PC skills including use of MS Office tools

Desirable Requirements:
Experience with high-end CAE/CAD tools such as Mentor Expedition or Zuken CR5000
Understanding of the rigorous requirements of a safety-critical environment
Membership of a professional institution, preferably with Chartered engineer status
